    MINISTERS OF HOSPITALITY / USHERS

    Hospitality

Would you like to help make Christ’s presence known to people who come to Sacred Heart, and be part of one of the most visible ministries in our parish? We are inviting parishioners to join our Liturgical Ministry of Hospitality. Friendly faces and outgoing people are needed to help greet all who come through the door, help seat people and provide assistance where needed. Hospitality Ministers, formerly called ushers, also help collect the gifts and facilitate the communion procession. We especially invite women and young adults to join our dedicated Ministers of Hospitality who have well served our parish.

As we shift from “Usher” to “Hospitality Minister”, there are some subtle changes everyone can help with. One is seating for those who arrive after the mass begins. Hospitality Ministers are beginning the practice of seating people between the readings and psalm. This diminishes the distraction during the Liturgy of the Word and allows us all to participate more fully in the Mass. …And since we want Sacred Heart to be the most welcoming parish in our diocese, we are all called to be ministers of hospitality!

Please see Sean Fitzsimmons-Brown (x205) or Mike Kelley for further details, or contact the Parish Office at 229-1595.
