MEMBERSHIP
In order to achieve a high degree of diversity on the Parish Council while preserving
the Council's manageability, the Council consists of no fewer than 15 members and no
more than 21 members.
In order to promote diversity and maximum lay participation while also benefiting from
member experience, Parish Council members should serve 3-year terms, and no member should
serve more than 1 term consecutively. One third of the Parish Council's membership should
rotate off the Council every year.
The Parish Council annually adopts a formal Program for developing its member's advisory
skills, including such elements as an annual strategic work session, recirculating pertinent
periodicals and books, and assigning senior Council Members to serve as mentors to new members.
ROLES
The Executive Committee, which is headed by the Board Chair and consists of the Vice Chairs and
standing committee chairs, is responsible for developing Council meeting agendas, keeping the profile
of the desired Council composition updated, identifying candidates to fill vacant seats on the Council,
coordinating the work of the other 10 standing committees, and monitoring Council Performance.

STRUCTURE
The Council should annually elect 2 officers for one-year terms: the Chair - who is responsible for
chairing the Executive Committee, appointing the members and chairs of the other standing committees,
and for chairing Council meetings - and the Vice Chair/s, who serves as Chair in the elected Chair's
absence.
