Sacred Heart Council of Catholic Women's Guild
What is the Sacred Heart Council of Catholic Women's Guild?
The Guild of Sacred Heart parish is an affiliate of the
National Council of Catholic Women (NCCW) an organization
of over 500,000 members. Historically, (The Catholic Church History
1539 - 1989 - West Cost of Florida)
" the Catholic Woman's Club was formed at Sacred Heart Church in 1924."
From the first women's club formed at the Sacred Heart to
the present Women's Guild the purpose of the organization
remains the same: to assist the pastoral staff in the spiritual,
charitable, social, civic and educational work required to meet the needs of our community.
When?
Today is our 36th year of operation as the "Guild"
please consider joining us. Your membership provides
much needed monetary and material support.
Please join us in our mission to the parish community and the Tampa Bay area.
Where have we contributed?
With support we accomplish the following:
In accord with the Right to Life program and to
celebrate life and love of our sisters & brothers
in Christ, we provided 11 layettes on Mother's Day
to new mothers in need at Tampa General Hospital and Alpha House.
In addition, at Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter we provided
food and gift baskets and other support to parish families and
seniors referred to us by the pastoral staff. Furthermore,
we contributed to the Valentine community program sponsored
by the diocesan radio station WBVM.
To encourage spiritual growth,
we presented spiritual programs for our members and parishioners such as,
an annual retreat for women, the Living Rosary, an Agape Mass,
a Traveling Madonna, rosaries for the pastoral program at
Tampa General Hospital and a program to introduce
The Divine Mercy devotion and The Eucharistic Ministers of Divine Mercy to our parish.
To serve our Church and Community,
We provided 30+ Sundays of coffee & doughnuts following the 9:00 a.m.
Mass and provided assistance for church dinners and receptions.
The Guild members reported over 1900 community service hours.
In terms of social justice
We provided a forum to share information,
discuss, petition or protest for or against
legislation which would impact the spiritual well being
of our church and the right of our families to life, liberty, & the pursuit of happiness.
On an International level, for our Church and our World
We provided $2,469.00 for the National Council of Catholic
Women (NCCW) international program (Water for Life, Heifer, Emergency Fund for Women etc.,)
and material support for the Apostleship of the Sea Association in Tampa.
We accomplish all of this through the leadership
and dedication of the Guild members and the generosity
of the men and women of our parish.
For many years we have worked on these "little" projects and programs.
Annual Dues: $10.00 per year - Associate Membership $15.00 per year
