  • SHA Academic Curriculum

At Sacred Heart Academy, we cultivate in our students a keen awareness of social issues and a deep sense of community and civic responsibility. Above all else, the school community strives to grow as a model Christian community through worship and service, where all are sensitive to, show a concern for, and respond to the needs of others.

The religious program is concerned with the total development of the student as a member of the Christian community. Values, attitudes, and doctrine are an integral part of the curriculum. Since parents are the primary educators, parental understanding is needed so that you can assist your child in realizing what it means to live as Jesus did. Sunday church attendance and prayer should be a part of your family's religious experiences.

We recognize that all people have received from God unique talents and personalities and are meant to share in God's creative action through the development of these creative gifts. Since children come to learn about the world in a variety of ways and at different rates, we recognize and respect the individual difference among children and seek to provide ways to accommodate the difference by providing a variety of learning experiences. The task of the school community is to identify and celebrate individual talents and use these gifts to the fullest.

We believe that learning is best experienced through a holistic process. And since learning is a lifelong process, students need to see and feel the connections between what they learn in school and life outside the classroom. Our emphasis is on the moral, social and cognitive since these are all interrelated in the process of learning. As a Catholic school we see these elements of the learning process as enhanced by the integrating framework of creation, giftedness and love.
