    Dimes for Disaster Relief
Sacred Heart Academy students cleaned out their piggy banks on Friday for a dime line contest to benefit disaster relief for Haiti.  The students lined up dimes end to end across the gymnasium floor representing their allowances and Christmas monies along with donations from family, neighbors, and friends. Our teachers incorporated lesson plans on global community service, geography, and math throughout the week.  The winning class was our sixth grade with a class total of almost $500.  The monies will be forwarded to the Diocese of St. Petersburg as part of its efforts to support relief for the people Haiti. The final count was over $3000!
