    Emergency School Closing

Sacred Heart Academy follows the policies adopted by the School District of Hillsborough County regarding hurricanes or other disasters. Students and parents should consult local radio/television announcements for cancellation of school. In the event that school must be dismissed early, the following procedures will be in effect:

    • Office staff and assistants will call you to advise you of bad weather or possible danger. PLEASE KEEP YOUR EMERGENCY CARD UPDATED! NOTIFY THE OFFICE OF PHONE NUMBER CHANGES, ADDRESS CHANGES AND/OR CHANGES IN PICK-UP PERSONS!
    • A parent/guardian may come to the office and sign out the student.
    • Students will remain at school if parents cannot be contacted.
    • Students will not be permitted to walk or ride bicycles home during any emergency.

    Evacuation Drills

Evacuation drills are held at monthly intervals. They are required by law and are an important safety precaution. Each student should know the specific directions for leaving each of the rooms in which he/she has classes. The directions are posted in each room. It is essential that the evacuation of the buildings be orderly and efficient. Students are asked to follow these procedures:

    • Respond instantly to the signal.
    • Leave everything in the classroom.
    • Close doors when leaving the room.
    • Exit the building silently.
    • Walk rapidly but DO NOT RUN.
    • Stay in line quietly while outside.
    • Return to class quietly.
